GENERAL INFORMATION

- Monday is a holiday in Alberta.

- Parking is free on the streets, where parking is allowed.

- No parking on site.

- Men’s and women’s dressing tents are located near the stage area, with water for your consumption, also full-length mirrors, and tables in each.

- We anticipate 10 food trucks, 10-15 arts, culture, info, merchandise kiosks.

- There will be a police presence throughout the festival 12 noon – 6 pm.

- Toilets and other sanitary equipment will be provided as always.

- A larger stage will be provided along with a sound system and technician 

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

- All performers must be in traditional dress, and the music to coincide. 

- All performers are asked to be on site 30 minutes before your performance, and ready to perform ten minutes before.

AT THE EVENT

When you arrive at the venue, please look for Iva when you arrive. She will be located near the entrance in a MHOA marked shirt (Mahogany Homeowners Association) & clipboard. She will direct you where you need to go. She will help you find the MERCADO ROOM which will be the change room area and change quickly into your costume. Your instructor has to go over your dance with you before you are to perform on stage. 

Please arrive in enough time to park, unload what props and supports you need for your performance, change and be ready for your start time.

• There will be a limited number of stalls reserved for “performers parking” in the upper part of the lot.

• Culturefest is taking place in the Outdoor Rink to the South of the Parking lot (by the Tennis courts). The gates will be open for you to enter.

• This is an outdoor event so please remember to dress for the elements, have sunscreen and water.

• The Mercado room will be available for anyone who needs to change into costume. This will be a unisex area however, there will also be two single washrooms available just outside of the Mercado room. Personal belongings may also be left in this space, if needed.

Parking codes for the parkade was emailed to everyone (see "December Information" email). As parking space is limited, we kindly encourage carpooling whenever possible. Please do not share this code.

Parents are asked to stay close to help their dancer change in and out of their costume. Some dancers will need to change between dances.

The organizers have informed us that they will be providing food for the dancers at the event. We still encourage dancers to bring their own labeled water bottle and snacks as this will be a long day. Please do not eat in your costume.

Please be advised that our dancers are attending as performers and not as event guests. Kindly ensure they remain in the vicinity of the change rooms and refrain from participating in activities occurring elsewhere in the arena.

Please do not drop off your child only for the performance. Everyone will require a ticket to participate. Dancers cannot be unsupervised. 

Attire: Semi Formal. Guests and dancers are asked to wear semi formal attire (dancers will change into their costume after dinner, Kozak Trio will change into costume to be ready for the Part 1 performance at 5:30 PM). It is also important to remember that dancers are NOT permitted to eat in their costume.

When you arrive at the venue, please check in at the front desk. Our volunteers will confirm your tickets and direct you to your table. Signs will be posted to the changeroom area where you can leave your costume bag to change later.

AT THE EVENT

After dancers perform their dance, they have to stay backstage until adjudication, when the judge gives them advice and mentions their medals. The dancers are all on stage for that and then after adjudication, the instructor or assistant instructor will lead the group back to the change area where the parents can pick up their dancer.

Tickets: As per the package, single-day admission and Competition Show tickets must be purchased through Ticketmaster HERE or in

person at the Jubilee box office. Multi-day wristbands sold by Shumka and not subject to Ticketmaster fees are available for purchase in person at the Shumka admissions table.

Performers and instructors do not need to pay for wristbands. Instructors will receive a complimentary wristband backstage in the Green Room, and performers will receive a stamp at the Shumka Admissions Table for entry into the festival. If a wristband or stamp becomes damaged, visit the Shumka Admissions Table at any time for a replacement.

Dancers are required to arrive wearing their black Vykrutas rehearsal wear including your black Vykrutas shirt. This helps our school look professional, helps organizers recognize us easily and gives our school free advertising! Girls, please arrive at the venue with your hair already french braided, pinned and hair sprayed. Please also make sure your stage makeup is completely done (mascara, eyeliner, blush, lipstick, and seniors fake eyelashes too).

Location: Crossroads Community Preschool  (1803 14 Ave NE , Calgary AB) 

Arrival Time: 3:00 PM

Performance Time:  4:00 PM

When you arrive at the venue, the performers are kindly requested to call Abby (4039268421). She will then guide you to the change room and will be the main point of contact for the event. The change rooms are in the preschool room upstairs where everyone is able to change. There are bathrooms upstairs too. Please find your instructor near the changeroom area. Then please change quickly into your costume. Your instructor has to go over your dance with you before your performance. 

Parking available directly in front of the venue. Please see attached photo so you know where to park.

PHOTOS 

At some point during this event, parents are welcome and encouraged to take photos of their dancer(s). Please share photos and videos in the WhatsApp class chat or tag us on Instagram @vykrutas_calgary, so we can share your photos/videos with our followers! As soon as photos are finished, we request dancers change out of their costumes and back into their Vykrutas tshirt. Please do not eat in your costume.
