Uliana Kanevets
Uliana moved to Canada with her family, from Kyiv, Ukraine in 1996. Since then, Uliana discovered her passion for learning more about her cultural heritage through Ukrainian dance and song. Dancing and singing allowed her to be close to her roots and to be part of the Ukrainian Canadian community. She had the privilege of being a part of Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company of Edmonton, Хор Дніпро Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton and Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of Calgary. Uliana has over ten years of semi-professional dance experience in the Alberta Ukrainian Dance Community. She has been a part of many dance tours with both Cheremosh and Tryzub. Highlights of her dance career include the Revolutions and Razom tours.
Besides being a dancer, Uliana involves herself in the community and has pursued other areas of interest. She has volunteered with the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Festival Committee for 3 years. Uliana moved to Calgary to pursue a Master’s degree in Medical Science. During her time in Calgary, she taught various age groups with the Tryzub School of Ukrainian Dance. After working for several years as a laboratory technician and starting her family, Uliana has returned to teaching Ukrainian dance and is an instructor with the Vykrutas School of Ukrainian Dance, realizing her true passion. She is excited to share her passion for Ukrainian culture and dance with the younger generations of dancers!
